Projects
I love experimenting and hand-creating new designs from recycled sterling silver. Here are a few examples of recent commissions I've completed:
Hand-Picked Pearl Earrings
A customer asked me to create a pair of earrings with some beautiful wee pearls he foraged from a couple of mussels in Lochaline, Scotland. Swipe right to see a few photos from the foraging process.
Given full reign on the creative design, I decided to water cast recycled silver into these sweet little cup-like droplets to hold the pearls. Playing on the idea of water as both design and maker, the molten silver was poured into water with the process taking hold of the final outcome.
Leaving the earrings with an oxidised surface I think this really leans into the natural design, allowing the silversmithing process to simply do its thing.
As always I try to make my creative practice as zero-waste as possible, this lovely pair of earrings are made from the recycled silver scraps which I am continuously adding to in my studio.
Snake Ring Commission
I was commissioned to make something special for a customer's partner, based on a custom tattoo of a snake she has on her arm.
Taking inspiration from the original design, I placed sea glass they had picked together in Sicily along the design to represent each of the symbols from the tattoo.
This was something completely new for me, and I really learned a lot after working with these teeny tiny pieces of sea glass!
Being given free reign on jewellery design is such a treat for me, and to make a sustainable piece for someone to wear is even more special.
Ethiopian Opal Ring
This commission came all the way from Ethiopia!
The customer lived and worked in Gondar for a year, and asked for a custom piece as a way to commemorate her time there.
The Ethiopian Opal came from North Wollo in the Amhara Region. The incredible deep blues reflect iridescently in the sunlight, with a semi-polished finish to the recycled silver. These textures perhaps reflect the beautiful and vast nature of the Ethiopian landscape.
Celtic Inspired Earrings
Running with the theme of partnership, I made two earrings inspired by Celtic stars. Made to be worn separately by the couple, they make each other whole when put together.
The little individual recycled silver diamonds form an origami star, with a feather texture on the front and a high polished back.
I absolutely loved being given free reign on this design, and adore the sentiment behind it.
Irvine Wedding Ring
This wedding ring design was inspired by a special part of the West Coast of Scotland, Irvine.
Following the horizon lines through drawings I made, this ring reflects the beautiful beach view where a special bride said 'I do'.
Creating a unique and meaningful piece for a wedding or engagement is such a joy. Reach out if you have a special place or time that you would like to incorporate into your big day!
Corrour Studs
The Corrour Studs, named after a beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands, featuring craggy burns and pebble tracks. Each recycled silver pebble is individually handmade, clustered together to form these sculptural shapes.
Sea Glass Rings
Handcrafted rings with a recycled silver sculptural setting and delicate wire band. With sea glass picked on the West Coast of Scotland, each ring comes named after the place the wee gem was found.
Each ring is completely unique, with sea glass coloured from green, blue to white. If you have a specific colour or design please don't hesitate to contact us.
Molten Scrap Silver Trio
Our latest commission, and maybe favourite so far!
We were asked by a customer to create three pairs of matching earrings. Using 100% scrap sterling silver, we handmade these oozing molten gems.
Both sustainable and completely original, what a feat.
Isle of Skye Wedding Rings
This was such a lovely project.
These two wedding bands were inspired by the place where the couple got engaged; the northern coast of Skye. Taking this as my starting point, I sculpted recycled sterling silver into the coastline.
The most special part of this design is that the two rings both reflect each other and fit together.
These are sustainable wedding rings, inspired by nature.
